Pulmonary
Rehabilitation is a program designed to assist patients in
expanding their activities of daily living through education and
exercise. The program is held at Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation
located in the Phelps Professional Building, 211 West 14th Avenue,
Holdrege, Nebraska.
The rehabilitation team instructs patients in proper and safe levels of
exercise while monitoring their oxygen saturation and tolerance to
exercise.
Exercise will strengthen muscles, improve stamina, and condition the
heart
and lungs so that oxygen can be utilized more effectively. The education
is
designed to reduce further problems and promote a healthy lifestyle.
If you have a chronic lung disease, frequent visits to the physician or
hospital for lung related problems, or an increased shortness of breath
due
to a lung related diagnosis, you may be a candidate for Pulmonary
Rehabilitation.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation is offered at PMHC twice a week and each
session
lasts approximately 1 hour. A typical program lasts 18 weeks. At the
conclusion of your monitored sessions, we offer a maintenance program
that
you may attend if you choose to continue your exercise at PMHC.
