The Phelps Memorial Maintenance Team works behind the scenes and are essential members of the health care team. Matt Crooker, Facilities Leader states, “We strive to keep the facility looking nice and new every day, as well as safe and comfortable for patients, staff and visitors”. The team consists of Matt Crooker, James Cassidy, Riley Weaver, Joe Pouk, Josh Rask, Isaac Ward, and Terry Warnken. They serve as a direct resource to the hospital by providing a safe, functional, supportive, and effective environment for patients, staff and visitors. Isaac states, “My favorite part about PMHC is the atmosphere and the family aspect”. Isaac maintains the fire doors, does carpentry and is a certified locksmith.
The Team is responsible for the operation and maintenance of lighting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, steam and boiler systems and finishes of all hospital buildings. “I maintain the steam and boiler systems and keep the water and chemical systems in check,” Joe Pouk added.
The maintenance team also provides security, processes work orders, controls temperatures in patient rooms and all areas of the hospital. In 2018 alone, the maintenance team completed 3,576 work orders.
“I keep the mechanics of the building running smoothly, keeping our patients and their families comfortable and safe in the facility as well as keeping the facility in tip top shape both cosmetically and mechanically,” said Terry Warnken.
Josh Rask said, “Phelps Memorial It is a great place to work with a great bunch of people, which makes my job even more enjoyable”. Some of Rask’s responsibilities are plumbing, back flows, painting, drywall and working with Temptrak. Last year, the maintenance team went through 50 gallons of paint.
Employees and visitors alike have benefited from their kindness many times as they’ve been known to fill flat tires, scrap windshields and warm cars. With winter coming up, the maintenance team prepares for snow removal for Phelps Memorial, Phelps Medical Group and the Phelps Medical Plaza. Last winter the maintenance team spread 23 tons of salt.
As a 17 year veteran of Team Phelps, James Cassidy maintains the Bio-E equipment, the building automation system (Metasys) and the key system for PMHC, PMG and Plaza.
The newest member of the team, Riley Weaver has been with PMHC for 1 year. His primary responsibilities is the electrical system in our buildings. “The best part about my job is a toss-up between the people and culture and the diverse challenges of the job.”
Although each member has his specialty, they work together to ensure Phelps Memorial, PMG and the Plaza always runs smoothly and looks great!
