The Materials Management Team adds tremendous value to Phelps Memorial Health Center. The Materials Management department consists of Lisa Johnson, Val Broeker, and Terry Borden. With a total of 39 years of experience between them, they are equipped to make long-term purchasing decisions through innovative inventory management practices and strategic sourcing, which impacts the cost, quality, and outcomes of patient care.
“Technology has come a long way the past 24 years. All the inventory used to be on paper and turned in once a week, but today we use handhelds to restock inventory, which makes our inventory instant”, states Johnson.
Materials Management is also responsible for coordinating business transactions for the purchase and appropriate accounting of supplies and equipment required and utilized by all hospital departments.
Terry Borden, says, “I look forward to coming to PMHC each day as I have great co-workers that I enjoy working with! One of the great things I like about my job are the smiles I get when I make deliveries to the different departments throughout the hospital!”
Materials Management not only supports the hospital, but Phelps Medical Group, our Specialty Clinics, Oncology and Physical Therapy.
Lisa Johnson, says, “I love that I learn something new every day! As we grow with new physicians, we get to order new supplies”.
Not only are Lisa, Val, and Terry always busy at work they also keep busy outside of work. Lisa enjoys spending time with friends and going to the lake. Val loves to garden, go fishing and watch her grand kids at sporting events and Terry enjoys gardening and crocheting baby blankets.
Materials Management Week is celebrated October 6th – 12th.
