Phelps Memorial Health Center, Holdrege, was recently named one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States by The Chartis Center for Rural Health for the 5th consecutive year.
Regarded as one of the industry’s most significant designations of performance excellence, the annual Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals award is based upon the results of the Hospital Strength INDEX® from iVantage Health Analytics.
“This achievement is very gratifying and validates our daily commitment to providing the best healthcare possible to our patients while maintaining an efficient and effective facility,” said Mark Harrel, Chief Executive Officer.
“We have an outstanding team that accepts nothing but the best. Patients are our top priority and it shows in the objectives which we are achieving. This recognition, along with our recent Five Star designation from CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services), is a reflection of how dedicated the Phelps Memorial team is to those they serve.” stated Mr. Harrel.
Based entirely on publicly available data, the INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. The Chartis Center used the Hospital Strength Index, which assesses performance in eight areas: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and financial efficiency. Hospitals recognized as a Top 100 facility had one of the 100 highest overall scores among all Critical Access Hospitals nationally.
"Despite the challenges and instability we see each day across the rural health safety net, the Top 100 program continues to illuminate strategies and innovation for delivering higher quality care and better outcomes within rural communities," said Michael Topchik, National Leader, The Chartis Center for Rural Health.
