Phelps Memorial Health Center is excited to welcome Justin Boutwell, PA-C, to the emergency medicine team! Boutwell completed his training in physician assistant studies at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska in 2019. He has spent the past four years providing healthcare services in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
“Rural health has always been appealing to me because you get to do a little bit of everything,” Boutwell said. He previously worked as a nurse at Phelps Memorial Health Center and decided to go back to school for further training after working with the emergency medicine team.
“I had great mentors working in the ER like Jodi,” Boutwell said. “I got to a point where I knew what to expect the providers to do, but I didn’t understand why. So I went back to school to get a better understanding and went through the PA program because I thought it would be a good balance with my previous background in nursing.”
“I look forward to providing care in Holdrege and having a personal relationship with patients,” Boutwell said. “That’s the good part of being in a small-town community, where you’re not just taking care of a number but an individual that you see at the grocery store or out around town.”
